Support Ojalá today!
Keeping up hope amidst escalating inequality and political unrest isn’t easy. But we’re convinced that collective power remains our most powerful tool.
Ojalá is a space where we confront the status quo, amplify the voices of those at the heart of struggle, and build internationalism from below.
As a feminist and communitarian publication based in Mexico, we’re dedicated to questioning systems of oppression while nurturing understanding and dialogue, while also pressing a challenge to power.
Our independence is at the core of our reporting. We are free from the influences of corporate interests and government agendas, ensuring our coverage remains unfiltered. We don’t run ads on our website. This independence is made possible with support from small foundations. Last year, our budget was just over $30,000.
This month, Ojalá turns three, and for the first time we’re asking you—especially folks in the United States and Canada—to support our work. With just a few dollars a month, or a one time donation, you’re contributing to our growth and sustainability, ensuring that Ojalá can continue to publish journalism and analysis, and importantly, translate it to English.
Your support helps pay writers and illustrators around the region. Nearly a third of our budget last year went to ensuring our contributors, especially those experiencing precarity, are paid for their work. The rest is spent on editing, translation and all of the little things that need to happen to keep a website online.
As loyal readers, you already stand with us, and for that we are so grateful.
Now, we ask you to donate and support our work and our growth. Every dollar helps.
